Fragile: A Portrait of Gil Batle

A short documentary of ex-convict Gil Batle, an artist raised in San Francisco, who recounts his haunting incarceration experiences by relief-carving images on delicate ostrich eggs. In and out of five different California prisons over a period of 20 years for fraud and forgery, he refined his self-taught skills by drawing greeting cards and by giving tattoos to other prisoners.
