About me - current project:

I am a Kurdish researcher and director from Turkey. I was born in Hakkari (Turkey) in 1979. After my master's degree at Paris1 Panthéon Sorbonne University, I defended my doctoral thesis entitled "The visual construction of Kurdish identities in cinema" at Paris3 Sorbonne Nouvelle University. I have directed several documentaries and worked as an assistant director on several films shot in Turkey, Iraqi Kurdistan and France. Since 2014, I have been working at Mardin Artuklu University (Turkey) as an assistant professor. The Heavy Burden (2019) is my 1st and The Banishment is my 2nd fiction film as a director. This year I am participating in the Sacramento International Film Festival with my short film entitled The Banishment whose synopsis is below: Ziko is a sleepwalking young man who has just been banished for a serious sin he committed in his sleep. The banishment decision is also reported to all surrounding villages. Expelled from his village by a cruel winter day, Ziko, half-naked and hungry, tries to reach the city through the villages that await him with hatred. But a deaf-mute hunter has to go to town the same day, by the same route.
