About me - current project:

Jeanne Schieffer is a screenwriter, playwright, columnist, and poet. The Candlestick Maker is the result of time spent with the legendary screenwriter and author Lew Hunter at his Screenwriting Colony in Superior, Nebraska, in 2013. The script holds a top 1% "Recommend" industry coverage rating. The Candlestick Maker is a story about familial love between individuals who don't come from happy families. Running from childhood memories of her mother and an abusive relationship with a married man, Sendra Edding secretly moves to a small, Nebraska town within miles of the mental institution where her mother lives – a mother she has not seen since she was nine. Using candle-making as therapy, Sendra befriends a new community of grocery store co-workers and Jessie Ryan, a distressed 13-year-old boy whose mother, Pam, battles mental issues of her own. Their shared circumstances compound when Sendra and Jessie’s father, Tom, start to fall for one another. The characters’ individual searches for peace from their pasts lead to bittersweet answers and an unexpected but familial ending.
