About me - current project:

Helen Alexis Yonov (Alexis) is a Latvian-American filmmaker currently based in Los Angeles. Having lived in the USA, Malaysia, Russia/USSR, and France, her experiences overseas have created an appreciation for different cultures and foreign cinema, which has found a way into her work. In 2011, Alexis moved to Paris, France in order to write THE BURDEN OF LIGHT. It was during her time there that she found the inspiration to write her award-winning short film, THE GESTURE AND THE WORD, on which she was also the director and a producer. It went on to win 60+ awards and screen at 90+ festivals. THE BURDEN OF LIGHT is a historical romantic drama, as well as a contemporary romance. Set in France, the film moves back and forth between the lives of two women, who are separated by ears, yet connected by blood.
