    I describe myself as a

    SFF Filmmaker

    About me - current project:

David Aguilar is a L.A. born Chicano who spent his formative years in Placerville, California, a small town with an infamous history of racially fueled vigilantism that sparked the concept for his first short film, Hangtown, a coming-of-age drama which will have its world premiere at the Sacramento International Film Festival. Before becoming a TV Writer, Aguilar taught history at an East L.A. high school during the day while moonlighting as a private investigator deep into the night. Aguilar has written on the CBS dramas Matlock and SWAT, the mini-series FDR for the History Channel, as well as an animated short film To The Letter, which won top prize at the CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge. In addition to adapting Hangtown into a feature film, Aguilar is also currently developing Trespassers for director Alex Rivera dramatizing the 1967 New Mexico Courthouse Raid which culminated in the largest manhunt on U.S. soil. Aguilar is a proud alum of the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program, the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s TV Writers Program, and UCLA Film School. He’s traveled to Chiapas, Mexico to teach filmmaking to the Zapatista guerrilla army as well as to Havana to study Cuban cinema. Aguilar lives in Pasadena, California with his wife Carolina.
