For decades you have relied on the Sacramento International Film Festival to bring you top-drawer premieres and film retrospectives like SLUM DOG MILLIONAIRE (with director Danny Boyle), THE LAST PICTURE SHOW (with star Timothy Bottoms), and TERMINATOR (with Producer John Daly).
Now, thanks to Movie Busters and the Crest theater, it's time to revisit the Steven Spielberg produced classic, Gremlins and meet its star, Zach Galligan.
Gremlins, directed by Joe Dante (The Twighlight Zone, The Howling) and written by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter), stars Zach Galligan, Pheobe Cates, and Corey Feldman.
ABOUT THE FILM:
The film involves a young man (Galligan) who inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town. Steven Spielberg was the film's executive producer. Gremlins was theatrically released on June 8, 1984 by Warner Bros. to critical and commercial success.
THE SAC FILM TIE IN:
Each year the Sacramento Film Festival and California Film Foundation (CFF) produce the 48 HOURS CALIFORNIA program to uplift young filmmakers and support the growth of the local film industry. in 2023 the "theme" of the show was Gremlins. Film teams were asked to have a Gremlins-inspired prop, line of dialog and named character. We partnered to support Movie Busters to bring the feature film to town with its star Zach Galligan though the actors strike scuttled the plans. Now that the strike is over, we proudly ask you to join us for this classic!
