Tanzania is home to nearly 60 thousand elephants and 63 million people. It's impossible for the two not to cross paths. In fact it's a daily occurrence for many and for some it can be a nightmare. The human / elephant conflict can result in more than elephants eating crops and destroying farms. They can cause injury, permanent disability, even death. Dave Johnson, retired zookeeper and animal conservationist with Katie Adamson Conservation Fund (KACF) has joined efforts with the Tanzania Elephant Foundation (TEF) in TZ, to create solutions like beehive fences and GPS collars to keep elephants out of communities and track their whereabouts. Both organizations keep a healthy relationship with the locals and government officials to ensure everyone continues to work together for a cohesive solution.
