Outskirted is a 12-minute short film about Jo, a late-night radio DJ who is deeply lonely, until one night, when an alien abducts her. Jo must now decide if she will stay lonely here on Earth or join the alien for a new life.
Outskirted is my Master of Fine Arts thesis film and grapples with loneliness and isolation in the only way that I really know how, storytelling.
The film was Written and Directed by Sacramento Native, Dakota Fitzsimmons, Produced by Ashley Blalock, and Executive Produced by Dot-Marie Jone (Glee, Bros., Boondock Saints) & Lee Browning. With cinematography by Sophie Gemelas, production design by Sacramento Native, Heather Uroff, and original composition by Damian Kompell.
Outskirted will have its Earth Premiere at the Sacramento International Film Festival 2023.
