The Leonardo DiCaprio movie that was filmed in Sacramento reportedly has a release date.
Although it doesn’t have a title yet, Warner Brothers is planning to release the movie to IMAX theaters on Aug. 8, 2025, according to IndieWire, a film industry and review website.
The Warner Bros. production is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and also stars Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris and Alana Haim. Anderson is also writing and producing the film.
The plot of the movie is under wraps and is described as Anderson’s most “commercial” project to date. The budget for the upcoming movie, often referred to as “BC Project,” was approaching $100 million, according to Variety.
Production in Sacramento concluded at the end of February and resulted in economic gains for the city after 16 days of shooting.
“Hosting a production of this caliber not only brings Hollywood stars to our city, but also generates substantial economic benefits for our local businesses and workforce,” Sacramento Film Commissioner Jennifer West said.
There were sightings of DiCaprio, Taylor and Anderson shooting a scene near the Sacramento County Administration Building and Sacramento Superior Courthouse on H and 8th streets.
Scenes were also shot near I and 6th streets in downtown Sacramento and at Ronald Reagan’s former house in East Sacramento.
The Sacramento Fire Department was also on standby while filming of a simulated explosion took place in the streets of downtown Sacramento.
Scenes were filmed in Eureka, Ca before production made its way to Sacramento. Filming also took place in downtown Stockton and Galt
