Sacramento, CA – Anyone lucky enough to attend the Last year’s LAUNCH international fashion show, really got a (run)-way for their money, literally. The swank soiree was held at the Historic Landmark Bank Building located in the heart of downtown Sacramento.
Built in 1938, the building was one of the original Wells Fargo and Company banks in Northern, Cali. The historically rich venue provided the perfect backdrop for the exquisite LAUNCH fashion event.
Still in place, the original bank vault was creatively used as a central focal point and unique prop. Model mayhem ensued as the eloquent elite emerged one-by-one through the ominous opening, commencing their cascade down the catwalk.
The evening was a celebration of celebrity couture with cute, creative collections from popular “Project Runway,” designers; 2012 “Project Runway,” All Star, Gordana Gehlhausen, season seven winner, Seth Aaron and Michael Costello who placed fourth in season eight but was invited back for the first ever “Project Runway,” All Stars season, where he placed as a finalist.
Daring designs by Dubai designer “Furne One” were also on display, including a sexy sculpted cage dress, once worn by Nicki Minaj and an Intricate ensemble previously worn by model, Amber Rose/Wiz Khalifa-wifey and baby-mom.
Launch CoverGirl Kareezia rocked the Amber Rose piece. She rocked it a bit differently, but it still rocked and rocked hard!
I can’t wait to catch Kareezia this year at LAUNCH. No idea which designer she’ll be wearing but I know that it will once again rock! Models find out at the last-minute dress-rehearsal what they wear. I trust they’ll they pick the perfect girls for the perfect garments though.
The venue switched this year, bye bank vault. My guess is that it outgrew the previous location, LAUNCH is large! The Historic Landmark Building, while fantastic, was complete mayhem, but in a good way.
Last year it occupied a sold out standing-room-only crowd of close to 400 and trust, it was crazy, crowded cool.
My Mom aka Kareezia’s Grandma “said she felt lucky to make it out alive. As for me, I’m down for LAUNCH wherever.
The new venue will definitely provide better seating, compared to last year’s none. But the cramped conditions were worth it because it was a lot of fun!
The LAUNCH 2013, fashion extravaganza kicks off its stilettos, Friday September 6, at the beautiful Tsakopoulos Library on I St., downtown.
It promises to be another star-studded affair with showcases from NBC’s Fashion Star contestant Johana Hernandez, Los Angeles women’s fashion design house FROCK LA, and acclaimed designer Adolfo Sanchez.
