CFF Spotlight: DJ Sugar Shock

DJ Sugar Shock

Biography

Patricia Collins (AKA DJ Sugar Shock) has burst on the scene for her silky smooth funk and RnB grooves as well as her production skills. Known as Trish to her friends, this Houston Texas based DJ is available for parties and occasions and is sure to please. She was featured on CFF after demonstrating her skills on everything from the PS 3 to a cell phone. A natural with electronics, it seems there is no gear DJ Sugar Shock can not master. She'll even show you how to root your phone! Her debut Compilation CD - "House of Sugar Shock Volume 1" is due out later this year. She’s MC'd and even catered events like the Sacramento Film Festival, Cine Soul and others. Her musical influences span everything from Kanye West to Stevie Wonder. Of course she is greatly influenced by today's talented females like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj as well.

By far not a one-dimensional DJ/producer, Sugar Shock delivers a blend of chunky, rolling, phat tech-house and Hip Hop but adapts her sound to any venue setting whether it is underground or commercial. Her versatility and amazing ear is what keeps DJ Sugar Shock a "One to watch for 2012" within the electronic and hip-hop music scene. Since playing in the school band at the tender age of 16, she’s honed her musical talents and now has landed a coveted spot of the CFF Profile, where she has supported its annual events. She has repeatedly rocked the house and is even willing to donate her musical time to numerous charitable events including for breast cancer awareness and  local animal sanctuaries.

On a more personal level, this hard working girl graduated top of her class from Wyotech as a certified mechanic! That's right, DJ Sugar Shock can spin your discs and rotate your tires! On the Dean's list while working to support her two children, Kendell and Terrance,  DJ Sugar Shock keeps a very busy schedule. When asked why she became a mechanic she says "Growing up I was a Daddy's girl. What he loved most was working on cars. That rubbed off. I love cars. If you wanna see a happy Trish, take me to a Nascar event".

Not content to simply perform, Trish also helps other business people and artists with her own PR company, aptly titled "Sugar Shock PR". Trish has recieved much positive attention for herself and her clients in publications like The Sacramento Bee for her P.R. efforts. As her career continues to build momentum you can expect more releases, expansion into other countries and more support for businesses looking to grow their brand through PR and marketing. Trish is well on her way to being one of Houston's greatest musical/business exports, showcasing skills and versatility which erupts dance floors everywhere. This combined with a strong work ethic is what keeps her in such high demand.
