  • Hi Rachel,

I haven't met or talked to Richard Broadhurst, but thanks for the feedback. I may contact him once I have a completed draft of my script. I like Carl Iglesias' articles but have not read that book. I am talking to another person on this board and she completed a script after taking one of those six month online classes from screenwritingu.com. They usually cost around $700. The next one starts in November and there are about 100 excercises to go through. I listened to one of his "rewrite teleseminars" and it was very informative.  So what is it like working with Richard? I am assuming you do a phone conversation? How often? Does he give you a marked up PDF or something?

  • Hey, Rachel, No reason to apologize for being from Kansas.  I grew up in Manhattan.  A LOT of great writers and artists come from Kansas--William Inge for one (his one screenplay won the academy award for writing.)  Dennis Hopper was also from Kansas.  I could go on and on.  Actually the one writer who wasn't from Kansas was Frank Baum, who wrote the Oz stories.  He never even visited Kansas.  :-)  Hang in there.

  • Rachel,

I couldn't resist sending you a messge when I saw you mentioned Kansas.  I grew up there and recently had the pleasure of being a guest playwright at TheWilliam Inge Theatre Festival in Independence, KS.  I also co-chaired a panel on screenwriting with Lew Hunter at the Sac. Film Fesitval.  Check out my web site:  www.RichardBroadhurst.com  Perhaps I can help you out.

    Warm regards,

    Richard Broadhurst

  • Hello Rachel,
I would like to personally invite you to the premiere of my feature film "Charlie's Closet" on July 31st, 2010. It is going to be a HUGE event with live music, food, vendors, the showing of the film, and much more! I would love to see you there. The tickets are free with a recommended $5 donation at the door for those who can, and it will be happening on the beautiful outdoor pavilion at Lakehills Church right above Regal Cinemas in El Dorado Hills. We already have about 300 tickets reserved, so make sure you grab one before they run out! For more info about the film and to reserve your tickets go to www.charliescloset.com. Thank you so much and I look forward to seeing you there!

  • At the bottom of your page is a grey horizontal bar...open it up in the lower right...It has a chat function!
  • Have worked with him many times when he's in California! He is, without putting TOO fine a point on it, simply the best!! He's literally trained more Academy Award winning screenwriters than perhaps any living person. Can't say enough! He has two spots as I'm aware left for his summer screenwriting colony! I highly reccomend and if you do chat with him tell him Marty said "hi"!
  • Rachel,
thanks for joining California Film Foundation. Please keep us updated on your projects. Feel free to blog about some of your experiences or things you want to share.

I see you're a screenwriter. Are you planning to attend the Lew Hunter screenwriting colony this summer? Lew is a great friend!
