In the late 1800s, two African American sisters from Sacramento California made history by standing up for the dignity of their people as “voices for freedom”. Anna & Emma Hyers were popular late 19th century, African-American touring-opera artists who left the safety and comfort of the opera to change minds and hearts with works that revolutionized American Music Theater. Yet their story has been unknown until now...
