CFF PRESENTS: DAWN SPINELLA
Third generation Italian-American, Dawn Spinella is an actress, photographer and, multi-awarded screenwriter who holds an MFA from UCLA's famed school of screenwriting. She is also the leader of CFF's weekly screenwriting group!
MEET DAWN: JANUARY 14th @ NOON! - As an actor she has worked in TV and film and shared the screen with greats like Richard Gere, Richard Belzer (Homicide) and Katie Holmes (Dawson's Creek).
Her Sloan-awarded screenplay, "Mary & the Moon", is about her aunt, who - despite never completing any degree - finds the missing link in the propulsion system, necessary to bring a manned mission from Earth to the Moon and back. Dawn likes to tell autobiographical stories, because true events are often more incredible than fictional ones.
HER OWN VIEWS:
"Growing up, I was fascinated by cinema and the magic that was created in the movies. I always knew I wanted to work in the entertainment business." After much experience in commercials, TV and in films as an actress she gradually approached the directing and writing side of the business.
"My model was and still is Tennessee Williams. What I admire the most in the American playwright, is how his characters are endowed with such an astonishing depth of desire."
