Because the conference is tied to the Sacramento International Film Festival, and we are now free to meet, in person, screenwriters are invited to attend the entire three-day festival to learn even more about the art of filmmaking. Whether your goal is to one day be involved behind the camera or not, this invaluable additional education and networking will surely benefit your screenwriting craft.
ABOUT OUR HOST:
Richard Broadhurst is a veteran of Broadway, national commercials, and film, having written, directed or starred in over 50 stage plays and films. His play "Billie" was Larry Moss's first directing project at his studio featuring Noah Wyle of E.R.fame. Richard has worked with many major talents including Jason Alexander of Seinfeld and Edward Asner of The Mary Tyler More Show and Disney's UP. He has acted in many national productions including on the soap opera, One Life to Live. A member of SAG/AFTRA and Actor's Equity, Richard has a vast arsenal of finished and polished scripts. His background as an actor can also help you make characters that are real, vivid . Actors love running his lines.Meet Richard and pick his brain about writing or acting in this relaxed, fun setting where anything goes...Within limits ;)

MARK S. ALLEN: (pictured above with The Rock) is a seven-time Emmy Award-winning television producer/host and is a writer/producer of the film APParition starring Mena Suvari and Kevin Pollak. He co-wrote and produced the horror film franchise Fear Pharm and is co-director/writer/producer of the Eric Robert's suspense-horror 616 Wilford Lane. He produced the films Notorious Nick (based on the true story of MMA champion Nick Newell starring Cody Christian and Elisabeth Rohm) and BallBuster (starring Jerry O' Connell).
He is host and is executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning syndicated movie show Extra Butter TV. His TV career began with hosting the National show Scratch with Lisa Ling. He went on to win four Emmy Awards and was host of his own show Short Attention Span Theater for two years on Comedy Central. Mark has logged over 25,000 hours of live local television as well as visiting the sets of countless blockbusters all over the World. He has been Mark Zuckerberg's guest at the Facebook campus on numerous occasions to host celebrity movie screening Q&As and has done the same for two California governors.
In 2017 Mark was awarded the Children's Miracle Network "Person Of The Year" for his ongoing efforts to raise funds for children's hospitals. In addition to his numerous Emmys, Film Festival recognitions, and other accolades, in 2017 he won the California Film Commission Person of the Year. The Sac Film Fest is very proud to present Mark S. Allen.

CONFERENCE BACKGROUND:
Initiated in 2004 at the historic Delta King, a genuine 1860's riverboat and floating hotel located in Old Sacramento, the American Screenwriters Conference was founded by the late 'Godfather of screenwriting', Dr. Lew Hunter. Each year we strive to honor Dr. Hunter's creation by bringing the BEST screenwriting talent from around the world to learn the craft of screenwriting.
